The second annual Bands, Bikes & BBQ mini fest at Trans-Pecos happened on the first weekend in September and was a hell of a good time! Presented by local booking collectives Booked By Grandma and Pluto Booking, the event was sponsored by Doc Martens, Two Robbers and Biltwell and featured vendors selling their unique wares and delicious BBQ from Barker & Sons. The sponsors all donated products which were raffled off to raise money for The Brigid Alliance whose mission is to “get people to abortion care, whatever it takes,” a cause and organization that FTA fully supports.

The main attraction of course were the bands—Hollye Bynum (of Razor Braids) and friends, Spite FuXXX, JessX, TVOD, and Fat Trout Trailer Park. Bynum and crew kicked off the evening with some subdued indie/alt country/lounge vibes that got the crowd primed for the chaotic synth punk of Spite FuXXX, the noise frenzy of JessX and the all out mania of TVOD. (I unfortunately was withering after a heavy work week and not much sleep so I had to miss Fat Trout Trailer Park.) This was one of those dream lineups with the perfect pairing of bands complimenting the sonic energy of each other and an excellent curatorial move by Booked By Grandma and Pluto Booking. I’m already counting down the days til the next BBB, sure to be yet another banger!
